Okay, first the speech therapist was always late for the appointment -- at least five minutes every time! Next, she was always trying to give her, my child (adopted), a medical diagnosis. First the therapist tells us that we are not disciplining her, and then she tells us that our daughter is attention deficit, she then decides and expresses to us that our daughter is fetal alcohol. Meanwhile, we had been seeing her over a year with no substantial improvements in speech. In my opinion, it is highly unprofessional for her to offer up these diagnoses when she is not an MD. Moreover, she shouldn't have blamed a made up diagnosis for her lack of ability. \r We switched to a therapist at North Memorial who has already made improvements in our child?s speech. Wow, was the U of M a waste of time and money! Pros: Not many, we were first excited to be at the U -- then we woke up. Cons: Arm chair diagnosis, constant blaming for lack of improvment, no accountability
