My wife was having problems with her 2006 Kawasaki Ninja in that it would not shift properly. We dropped the bike off at Full Throttle to be repaired, and after about a week or so I was contacted by the service department and advised that they had completed 12 of 17 hours of labor on the bike and that they had not found the problem yet. I asked them why they had not called me before tearing down the bike at $75 an hour and they said they though that it would be covered by the warranty, but when they called the manufacturer, the warranty had expired. After a few choice words, I hung up the phone. Later that day, they called my wife and advised her that they had only completed one hour of work on the bike and they would not be able to fix it without tearing it completely down at an estimated cost of between $1200.00 and $2500.00 (The bike only cost $3200.00 new). My wife advised them that we would pay for the work completed and that we would just pick up the bike. We picked up the bike, and my wife having more tact asked why she was paying around $80.00 in labor for them not doing anything other than pulling off the clutch cover (the newly revised repair story). They then cancelled the repair bill and returned the bike to us. I then took the bike to another service department in the south end of the valley and dropped it off to be repaired, expecting the worst. The day after I dropped it off, I was called and advised that the clutch and shifter linkage were simply out of adjustment and that the bike was ready to be picked up. The charge to replace the clutch cover gasket that Full Throttle destroyed in their inspection, adjust the linkages, replace the fluids and do a complete service (including valve adjustment) was less than $300.00. I will leave you to draw your own conclusions as to what was goning on at the Full Throttle Service Department. However, I would not recommend that you take your bike or anything else there for repair.
