The Friendswood studio is 'my' sacred space. No matter what kind of day I'm having the moment I step into the yoga room, which was remodeled in July '10, my spirit settles, my heart opens and yoga does its magic. In the intro class Valerie, the owner/teacher, introduced me to something as simple as the breath, how to sit comfortably on the floor and explained the flow of a yoga class. I remember leaving feeling amazed and excited about starting my yoga practice. Which is something I loudly protested for a long time because 1. I'm not flexible 2. Meditate?? I can't sit still and shut off my brain! Sound familiar? \r

I worked in a fast-paced, high-stress environment and my yoga practice became my sanctuary. Through Asanas (poses) I learned to ground myself & to balance; my body opened and relaxed, yet got stronger and flexible.. the positive heart centered themes, which weave throughout the class support the alignment principles that are taught to lead you in and out of poses safely and uplift your mental, emotional and spiritiual bodies. Valerie trains her teachers well and allows them the freedom to express themselves fully, yet everyone holds true to the teachings at heart creating unity and collective growth. It's such a beautifully supportive environment that I became a certified teacher through the Sundance Yoga School. \r

I am a student of yoga and Sundance is my 'home'. The positive life affirming messages & the training I continuously receive through workshops & events held at both studios, enable me to live this path of teaching yoga. I am deeply grateful for have found this ray of light in Friendswood and am so proud to be a part of growing our kula (community) in Pearland. \r
