Finally made it to the bistro for Saturday brunch. Went at 11 and was seated without wait although the table location was a bit awkward. Waiter arrived promptly to take drink order. I love French toast and pancakes so decided on full order of the cinnamon French toast with candied bacon and scrambled eggs ($12) and 1/2 stack of the crystallized ginger lemon oatcakes to share ($7) then topped off with black coffee. The coffee was excellent! The food arrived within ten minutes.\r \r The French toast was only so-so, pretty bland and actually needed the syrup (I usually skip it) however it was served hot. The French toast was thick Texas toast with hardy edges yet soft center. Nothing wrong with the cooking method but it had no flavor.\r \r The oatcakes were incredible and wish I'd had those as my main entree with a side of fruit! The lemon was subtle and the oat flavor delicious. Might try to recreate at home.\r \r My date had the vegetarian potato scramble with over easy eggs ($12) and declared it had plenty of flavor. I believe the potato scramble had dot of pesto on top.\r \r While just the two of dined we saw plenty of families or couples, the bistro is casual and relaxing. We received no pressure to leave the minute the bill was paid so it was nice to chat for another 20 minutes.\r \r Total bill after tax and tip $40. Will go again to try the firebreads I read so many reviews on.
