It was my first appointment (after sending my husband and children there). I live 5 miles from the office. We are new to the area. I left 15 minutes before my scheduled appt. Morning rush hour. I called to say I was stuck in either rush hour traffic, or there was some sort accident. Receptionist ""fine, no problem -- I'll tell the hygenist."" I arrive 20 minutes late to my scheduled appointment (it took me 35 minutes to travel 5 miles). When I do finally arrive, I am told I cannot be seen. Strict office policy -- no appt. after 15 min. late. I waited quite a few weeks for this appt. This dentist lost five patients that day. His office personnel needed to make allowances. Now what if a patient has a tooth emergency? Whatever happened to -- ""we will try to fit you in, but you must wait."" \r
My diagnosis of this practice -- my own opinion and observation: small town -- doesn't know how to juggle appointments - needs a partner - has grown too big for his own good and doesn't really want new patients. That's why when I said we will be changing dentists, the receptionist didn't bat an eye. Good riddance.\r
Whether he was a good dentist or talented dentist, I think there are so many good dentists out there -- it is the receptionist, billing personnel and office policies that make ALL the differences in the world. Work with the patients -- don't make our lives more complicated.......and spout off about ""being fair to each patient we don't like to make people wait"" -- blah blah -- yeah, doctors never make patients wait. Accidents happen -- things happen -- rush me through if that's what it takes........work with me -- but your indifferent attitude is aggravating........and lack of appointments is definitely a signal of a dentist i want to stay away from.\r
