Review content:
The Owner of the Canal Overlook has charged us for a premium we never agreed to pay. This premium is not included anywhere in the signed lease. Although we disputed the charge both verbally and in written form, he told my husband and I that he would take the money from our Renter's Garauntee/Deposit. He did not tell us that he was making these withdrawals until we inquired about it some months after the initial dispute. He has never returned our call and refuses to talk to us directly, everything is relayed through the Assistant Manager. When my husband moved in, the staff at the Canal Overlook told him they would return the Renter's Guarauntee no later than the day he moved out. We have been out for some twenty days and have not yet received these monies. Many International Interns rent from Paragon Properties: Canal Overlook, and they are constantly taken advantage of. On our move out day, the woman in the office told my husband that they don't pay her enough there, so he should throw her some money. Upon reporting this to management, no one seemed too apologetic. \r
During the winter, the walkways were completely iced over. A fellow renter got stuck in the elevator for an hour. This elevator was out of service for about a month. I was never notified of a package delivered to me there, it sat in the leasing office for over 4 months before I finally figured out it had been there the whole time. The decor is from the late eighties, early nineties at best. The exercise room is a complete joke, and I think something may have died in the ventilation system because it always smelled horrible. Please trust that this is not the first time I've complained of these shortcomings of a so- called ""luxury apartment"" but my concerns were never of much concern to the staff of the Canal Overlook.
Pros: It is located near the canal.
Cons: The staff charge us for a premium without authorization.
