I purchased an open box item from best buy on dec 23, 2007. On April 15 it quit working at 10 pm I called the warranty department on 4/16 was told that i would be hearing from repair service within 48 hours.. a week later I received a call they were sorry and I would be hearing from a repair company within the next 24 hours that was wednesday. on Friday I got a call from the warranty department, I had to call them back. I called and was told that they did not have a representative in my area and that the manufacture wanted me to call them directly and they would walk me through the trouble shooting part of the repair and if they could not get it fixed that way they would than send a tech out.. I was not feeling very accomodating at this point and said no, they could just send someone out. I was done. they transferred me to the manufacture who went a head and tried to get me to work with them to figure out what was wrong... they needed the serial number and I could not read it so thought that I might be able to find it with my orignal paper work. I got out the owners manual and did find a paper with the serial number on it and guess what else I found on it? A name of a repair company, a date, a transaction number which did not mean anything to me for about 2 minutes.. that is when the manufacture was going to give me a transaction number for the repair. I gave then the one I had and it was a repair that was approved for the first buyer... not as the sales person had told me, ""the installer who took it out to install it brought it back it would not fit in the opening"". but as in the orginal owner had problems and had it returned. The consumers relations person told me that the warranty is still good so what it the problem.. the problem is I was lied to and now I have been told oh well my word against his. and I was asked if I had his name because then we would be talking about a different option. they get paid commion so they know who sold the unit. warranty violated,
Pros: lots of items for sales
Cons: maybe used, not just on the floor, may be repaired will not disclose repair issues
