Review content:
Do not trust that your event will be taken care! My son is getting married in the town of Loomis this October. I phoned several of my friends that work in the restaurant field to get a referral to a nice local restaurant and ended up making arrangements to have the dinner at The New Horseshoe Bar and Grille. \r
Without going into all the details – I was told one thing and reality was another! Over a period of four weeks, I spoke to the Events Director three times and visited the restaurant once. Taking notes and making sure I had all my details taken care of, I ended my search for the perfect place. I asked to give a deposit and was told no need. I made sure every time we spoke that this date was held for us, as I felt uncomfortable not leaving a deposit or having anything in writing. I made an appointment to meet the chef – which is the owner – and go over the menu for the dinner. That day I was a few miniutes early, so the Director and I started to go over details, thus coming to the conclusion that she had told me the minimum for my dinner would be $1,500, when in reality it would be $3,500!!!! I almost fell out of my seat! Needless to say I was very upset. Looking through all of my notes from our previous conversations, I was clear what the minimum cost would be and planned accordingly. I asked her who in their right mind would of ever thought that $3,500 for a dinner for twenty – twenty five people would be okay? I got up and on my way out asked her to have the chef personally call me. Instead, I received a phone call from her asking if we were interested in having our dinner before the rehearsal. This of course made no sense – who wants to eat at 3:30 in the afternoon? I told her to tell the chef – “Thanks, but no thanks!” I never received an apology from her, or a phone call from the owner to smooth things over. I have talked to several other people in the restaurant business and will pass the word about how unprofessional, unorganized and how very little care they took to make things right. All I can say is good luck with your new restaurant!\r
