Review content:
not wanting to put my cherished original paintings in the hands of a corporate employee working a 9 to 5 day job (aarons brothers), i knew i needed to find one of those rare mom and pops shops run by a master of the trade, preferably someone who is an artist himself. does such a business even exist anymore? after talking to several people in my network of fellow professional artists & photographers in the valley, i was eventually referred to this place, which i was told is now the longest running custom picture frame shop in the san fernando valley.
the owners, John and Euni are a most friendly and helpful couple. i knew this was the right place when i asked about some of the amazing artwork displayed on the walls and discovered that most of it was John's! (the owner). I was delighted to discover that he also moonlights as a professional artist, showcasing his work in several galleries within the prestigious Laguna Beach art scene. (that is no small feat, i know first hand how difficult it is to get showcased in that community).
his level of expertise definitely showed as he made some key recommendations for what color matting would best complement the style of frame in contrast to the colors in the artwork. i never knew how intricate the art of framing could be! it's truly an art form of it's own. it definitely eased the burden of having to choose with so many options.
the quality of work done was absolutely superb, and the pricing was even better. considering the size of my painting, i was expecting the price to be double what i paid. they are a really friendly bunch, and i don't know how much longer a shop like this will be around. it's rare that you find a business operated by an owner who is a master of his craft, and does everything himself, by hand. i really cannot recommend this place enough, i've already sent several of my friends to go there, all have become repeat customers.
