Review content:
I love this place, but maybe I've been lucky. More on that later.\r
\r
Talk about selection of sushi and sashimi! 50 or so varities, plus a load of salads and appetizers. Add a 2 dozen hot dishes plus a hibachi grill where you can order anything your heart desires, and you have a GREAT place to eat for right around $17. (The pricing in these buffets varies according to day of week, with weekends being more expensive by a dollar or two than a weekday.)\r
\r
I've never had a bad meal here, the only problem is one of self-control. You want to eat a lot for the money--sure, but the food is soooo good, that it's hard to stop going back for seconds and thirds of your favorites.\r
\r
There's a dessert bar plus not-found-anywhere-else ice creams like bean and green tea.\r
\r
I've read other reviews of customers complaining about brusk, rude waiters, but hey, this is a buffet. All they're supposed to do anyway is clear your plates from the table when you finish. They usually wait until you leave the table for more food to do it, so there's little interaction. If they smile and really are pleasant, then it's okay to leave a tip. In a restaurant like this, 5% is nice and 10% is generous.\r
\r
I've also read a couple reviews reporting insects. I never saw any, and have never been grossed out by anything in the restaurant, including the bathrooms which are kept reasonably clean.\r
\r
This is a GREAT VALUE and great food, especially if you fancy fresh sashimi and sushi. This restaurant has a ""sister"" restaurant--Kyojin-- owned by cousins on the east side of Broward County (Makino is on the west side, on University in Sunrise).
