Large selection of sushi and sashimi. Besides the ruby slices of tuna and rose quartz salmon, they had something called "snowy sushi", which was an opaque white cuttlefish with an unusual texture that makes you want to try one more just to be sure.\r

And the chunks of roast duck? My friend had been dreaming about returning to that duck for a long time.\r
\r
Oh, banana-length tempura shrimp, I will be dreaming about you...\r

While the food is luxurious, the ambiance is fair, not grandiose, not too tacky but comfortable. The maître d' gently instructed the hostess where to seat a family with a crying baby. This was done very discretely, without hostility, sparing diners from agitation and family from embarrassment.\r

I've been in too many Chinese and some Japanese buffets with wait staff unable to conceal what I perceive to be either contempt or an over-eagerness to get rid of us quickly...eat, make it snappy, then get the hell out. The Makino waitress did not at all give me that weird vibe.\r

You will pay $20 for your meal. You will leave completely satisfied, with no lingering doubt as to whether you might have made a better choice. That, itself, is uncommon today.
