We arrived at Extra Care Animal Hospital on Monday morning after a very upsetting weekend. My husband and I purchased our dog, Charlie, from a breeder in Ocala, Fl. and drove to pick him up on Saturday by Sunday, not realizing Extra Care had emergency service, we were in the Emergency Clinic. The emergency vet took Charlie in the back and when she surfaced she had devastating news...Charlie was gravely ill and wasn't going to make it. Any attempt to save him had a grim outcome and the starting costs were $3600.00. Desperately, I wanted to save the little guy so I was willing to pay. Even though I was willing to pay, the vet told me to take the dog back to the breeder. Reluctantly, I agreed and went home. By Monday morning Charlie couldn't breathe! I called Extra Care and they told me to rush him over. We did. Dr. O and her staff could not have been nicer! They examined Charlie and agreed that he was gravely ill and Dr. O. wasn't sure he'd make the trip back to the breeder. I asked her to work up an estimate for me to hospitalize Charlie and try to help him and when they did I was pleasantly surprised!. We admitted Charlie. Charlie is home and a happy, healthy dog!!!! Charlie's care was exceptional!! The staff was understanding to my anxiety and made me feel comfortable! They called me Monday afternoon with an update and encouraged me to call as much as I felt necessary. I NEVER felt as though I was bothering anyone at the office, which is rare nowadays!! I called at least twice a day and visited everyday. I was allowed to go into the hospital area and sit with Charlie and as he gained strength I was allowed to take him out. I feel this was an important part of his recovery.. as well as the Dr. and staff treating Charlie as one of their own. Thank you Dr. O and staff...everyday that I look at Charlie I thank God and Dr. O and her staff for him. I could not have asked for more from a office!! They are all wonderful and I HIGHLY recommend this office!!!
