I am not from New York nor am I from Jewish background but I am next best. I was born and raised in Miami Beach by my mom who is from the old country, Bavaria. She was brought over to NY and employed by a Jewish family who owned a hotel. They transplanted to Miami Beach and my mom learned to cook authentic kosher cuisine. My dad, well, let's just call him Ricky Ricardo.....Mom always cooked my family kosher food.....and we loved it. Weekends were spent on Miami Beach, specifically, Wolfie's on 21 st......the famous gathering place of all the jewish population in Miami! New York style deli/restaurant for decades! Now....10 years ago I moved to the Tampa Bay area and I never thought I'd come even close to a place like Wolfie's, yet this past weekend I stumbled into the Lucky Dill to get away from the Ironman event where I recently moved to in Palm Harbor. What a delight! It was Wolfie's all over again!\r Parking can be a problem. I was lucky that at 9 am I found the last spot in front....also construction next door in the plaza blocked off lots of otherwise available parking. \r I came in for breakfast at 9 am, I ordered my favorite: cheese blintzes! Complimentary banana bread with citrus butter came out almost immediately with a complimentary carafe of OJ. Coffee was excellent. And when the blintzes arrived! I was in heaven. 5 cheese blinzes stuffed with romanoff cheese, strawberry preserves and sour cream AND fresh sliced strawberries. I was sitting right next to the bakery case and while I waited, my mouth watered for the pastries....when the blintzes arrived...THAT problem was solved.\r It was very filling and I had to take 1/2 of it home. Now, I went in for breakfast and the reason I went in the first place was because my neighbor, who is from Minnesota saw a sign for Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds. They were not available for lunch....so we did the breakfast thing. He was disappointed so he just had a Bloody Mary. They have a full liquor bar on Saturday mornings!\r I can't wait to go back on the weekend for lunch! \r Pros: Cheese blintzes are wonderful. Bakery very tempting. Full li Cons: Parking is a problem.
