Review content:
I recently purchased a suit for an interview and wanted to get the sleeve length altered. The Golden Needle tailor shop has many branches in Baton Rouge and most of them had excellent reviews. I called the one on Perkins to see how much they charge. The woman on the phone (tailor/owner) insisted that I bring the suit there. She asked me to put it on and immediately started marking the jacket and trouser without answering my questions on the charges. She then proceeded to write-up the bill and charged $31.61 for sleeves and reducing the length of my trousers. Since the charges were not too much higher than the other tailor I had contacted (~$22 @ Tiger tailoring, Lee Dr) and the good reviews of the other branches, I agreed.\r
After 5 days I got my suit back and was very disappointed. I had specifically asked her if all four buttons would be retained and how she would alter it. She said that she will move the button up and it would turn out just fine. She had not told me that since the jacket had working button holes altering the sleeves would result in an ugly mess. She had folded the sleeve in, removed one of the 4 buttons and now the last button is almost on the wrist/sleeve edge. Had she the courtesy to mention that there would be trouble altering a jacket with working button holes, I would not have got it altered. It’s a shame that people like this do business. It’s like going to a doctor who prescribes drugs without telling you that you are going to have some serious side effects.\r
I was not allowed to try out the suit until I paid in cash. Now I have an ugly suit for my interview that is going to make me very conscious and I have wasted a good deal of money and time on the suit.\r
Thanks for ruining it for me Ms Perkins road Golden Needle tailor!! \r
