Review content:
I rented an apartment at Jackson Trace Apartments in Jacksonville, AL during the 2006-2007 school year. These people are slumlords in the worst possible sense of the word. The managers at the time were two very unpleasant, unethical women. Any time I had a problem with the apartment, I was treated as if I had negligently broken something, and repairs were never made in a timely fashion. Outdated plumbing broke between my water meter and the apartment. It took them over three tries to fix the problem. Meanwhile I was saddled with outrageous water bills, for which Hubbard Properties would not take responsibility. The last straw was when they tried to swindle me out of a month's rent. I ended up breaking the lease. They told me I was responsible for rent until someone else signed a lease. Understandable, but not only did they make no effort to try to re-rent the apartment quickly, after the unit was re-rented, the manager, only when confronted with the knowledge that I knew the apartment had been re-rented, finally told me the pro-rated amount of rent. Previously, she kept telling me I owed the entire month's rent.
The nine months I lived there, the property was run down and in a general state of disrepair. Several windows had no screens (I finally gave up on trying to get that fixed). Pest control was a joke, as I brought a silverfish infestation back to my home in Florida that I had to battle for several years. Fixtures such as sinks and cabinets looked dilapidated.
I cannot say enough bad things about Jackson Trace Apartments and Hubbard Properties. Avoid them, or you will be sorry.
Pros: Cheap, but not worth it
Cons: Terrible company
