We had a 9:00 dinner reservation at the New America's location on West Gray and decided to arrive a little early to enjoy the bar scene and check out the new location. After arriving at 8:36pm we checked in and walked right to the bar which was full seating wise but did not have many people standing. I actually walked right up to an empty chair and sat down at the bar to order a drink. I sat there for 15 minutes without being acknowledged by even one of the 3 bartenders. I watched as they served the people to my left and then the people to my right (who arrived after I did). They seemed to ignore myself and my date and would not even make eye contact with either one of us to even get their attention. Finally after 17 minutes of sitting at the bar the female bartender came over and took our drink order. I then watched her go back to the bar- she did not start making our drinks but stood there with a blank look on her face. She then proceeded to take 3 different people’s credit cards and close out their tabs before even starting our drinks. At this point we left. We had sat there for 25 minutes waiting for a drink and if that was the start to our dinner then no thanks. I’ve been a patron of America’s on Post Oak for many years and have never received this type of horrendous service. I could excuse it if the bar area had been packed or if there was just one person working the bar, but with 3 bartenders and a not crowded bar I am completely baffled. I will never go back.
