Prince Michel Vineyard doesn't seem convenient to anything, but it well worth the drive from more populated areas or a stop on the way to somewhere else.
The wine itself is fine - as Virginia wines tend to be. Nothing exceptional, but nothing horrible, either. The Vineyard's real strength lie in the quality of its tastings, its tours and the fact that it is very family friendly.
The front lobby has beautiful game stations featuring checkers and chess, as well as a table set up for coloring and lego building. Families are welcome to linger over a game or little ones may sit and create while mom and dad taste.
The main tasting area is also a retail shop. Samples of a number of food items are on offer, as well as a roster of a number of the company's wines. Tasting personnel are well-briefed on each wine's features and offer a lively commentary as the process progresses. After tasting, a self-guided tour through the barrel rooms gives everyone a chance to walk a bit. Even kids seem to love the tours - giant stainless steel tanks widen little eyes every time.
The wines can be pricey, but buying one or two as a souvenir of a lovely outing is definitely recommended!
