Housed in a lovely historic building on Charlottesville's Downtown Mall, New Dominion isn't so much a bookstore as a destination - it's nearly impossible to run in and out, picking up a book quickly. Much better to give in to the temptation to linger, picking up this book or that, looking around, filling one's arms with all the titles never seen elsewhere.
Like many independent bookstores, New Dominion doesn't necessarily stock dozens of each title but rather goes for depth - there are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of titles that might never be encountered elsewhere. Book lovers of any genre and all ages would do well to stop by and plan to spend some time.
