Dr. Mazey maybe a good doctor but I didn't stay with the practice long enough to find out. If the expression, ""you are only good as the company you keep"" applies then I might wonder. His in house billing staff is rude, unethical and out right incompetent. They submitted a claim to my insurance company 10 months after the services were rendered and when my insurance company denied the claim, they billed me. In other words, I was seen in June of 06 but they didn?t bill the insurance company until March of 07. Needless to say, I refused to pay and I went back and forth with the insurance company as well as the doctor?s office. During the dispute, the billing department admitted their mistake but refused to take responsibility to make it right. After the office threatened to submit the bill to a collection agency, I reluctantly paid. Then two years later (October of 08), I placed a new order for contacts (not through them) and submitted the claim to my insurance company. The insurance company denied my claim (benefits had been used) stating they paid Great Lakes Optical for a contact order in March of 07. Well, golly ? what?s going on here ? can I spell it out ? I paid the bill and so did my insurance company. I again contacted the doctor?s office only for Candice to say that ?it?s a crappy situation but oh well too much time has past?. So 3 years later, I am still paying for their unethical billing error which they refused to fix. Happy Eye Doctor hunting!
