Graff Chevrolet restored my faith in humanity Let me tell you a great feel good story. My son had been driving the same little pick up since high school and it had been developing issues for awhile. The transmission was slipping, the ac quit working this summer which you kind of need in Texas, the filler hose has been leaking and then it blew a head gasket. He is a operation Iraqi freedom vet when he got out there was not a lot of jobs out there first he delivered pizza’s then got job at a grocery store they maybe union but paid minimum wage. He has been out almost 3 years and is 27 years old now. I borrowed $2500 to buy him a car to get back in forth to work because he has been riding a regular boys bicycle to work every day. I bought a 1999 Monte Carlo for $2100. Well the lady I bought the car from ripped me off. I asked why she was selling it she said she got a new car I can understand that. I asked if there were any issues with the car I was told no. I asked if any work had been done to the car I was told a 0 2 sensor and battery was replaced a couple of years ago that’s it. Well on the way home it got hot so I emailed the seller and asked to let me know what has been done to the car before some major damage is done she said well the thermostat was replaced less than a 1000 miles ago. After emailing the seller she had an attorney send me a cease and desist letter saying I was harassing her which I didn’t. I emailed her 3 times and the very last one I asked for half my money back she emailed me 10 times. I took it to a little shop a guy at work recommended and they had it for about 3 weeks and couldn’t fix it. They replaced the radiator and thermostat and still same issue. So with no money left to spend on the car I was desperate I sent out emails to all the Chevrolet dealers in the metroplex, and asked if someone would donate their skills and there time to find out what was wrong with the car for my son for Veterans day. To my surprise a gentleman by the name of Bobby Malatia the sales manager from Graff Chevrolet in Grand Prairie Texas called me about 7 o’clock that night and said to contact Jake Augustyn the service director and they would look at it and charge nothing for the labor and parts at cost. I cried I was so happy to know there are still good people out there because I really didn’t think anyone would respond. We picked up the car from the first shop and took it to Graff Chevrolet on November 9th 2011 and Jake and the staff at Graff worked on it until December 16, 2011 trying to find out what was wrong with it. They went above and beyond what I expected they even replaced parts they didn’t charge me for because it became a personal challenge to him. He said out of the 20+ years he has been working on cars he never seen one like this. One time you drive it and it would be fine the next time it’s driven maybe 2 miles and it over heats. It was determined that there is something in the block and it can’t be fixed so I am going to try to get my money back from the seller through small claims court. Even though things didn’t turn out like I was hoping first being ripped off by the seller of the and then the car not being able to be fixed I still can’t believe these great people at Graff Chevrolet have such good hearts to help someone out in need. I want everyone to know there are still good people out in this world. I want to Thank Bobby and Jake and all the staff at Graff Chevrolet for all there help it means more to me then words could ever say. Thank you from a proud parent of an Army Vet!
