Review content:
My parents were visiting from New York with another couple and we decided to try Bluehour as it is reputed to be one of the best restaurants in Portland. Warning: do not believe the hype! We were sorely disappointed. On a Friday night, they had run out of two of the five entrees which is unacceptable. Especially considering that one of the entrees was steak. How do you run out of steak on a Friday night? When the food finally did arrive, it was completely sub par. The veal was mealy--$42 dollars for a hunk of mealy veal! My skate was soggy with butter and adorned with some unimpressive yucon potatos that had the consistency and flavor of cardboard. My mother's chicken was so bad she didn't even finish it. I can't remember what the others had because it was so disappointing that everyone sat there in silence--not wanting to ruin the mood of the affair until we could gripe about it later. The waitress was very nice, but the service as a whole was completely disorganized. We ordered champagne with our cheese plate but it arrived so late that we had to cancel the order. After a $600 dollar bill, we were less than impressed. I heard a rumour that the restaurant is under new management but that is absolutely no excuse for such poor performance. Don't go to this restaurant unless you feel that the decor and hype of a trendy restaurant are enough to compensate for terrible food and flakey service.
Pros: nothing
Cons: everything
