Review content:
The owner of Goldmakers (and GM, Inc.) is also involved in rental properties, including the apartments above the store. While the store has beautiful jewelry and everyone but the owner (Peter Zacharias) is friendly, his practices with tenants are shady and deceitful. Without rehashing an entire saga, I (a former tenant) am short nearly $600 because of discrimination and cheating against younger tenants. After the termination of the lease he refused to negotiate with me in a civilized and adult manner, and instead screamed at me over the telephone. I relocated out of state, and he is well aware that it would cost me more to travel back to Lawrence to fight this out in small claims court than it would be worth. It is with regret that I write this review, because I love the store. But, please DO NOT support a landlord who engages in discriminatory practices and treats former tenants (and store customers, I've heard) with total disrespect after the money has been exchanged. Pros: beautiful jewelry Cons: shady business practices, rude owner
