Review content:
I heard about the Food Bank about a year ago. It had changed management and they were trying to update all of their files as well as improve the distribution of their food. We are a non-profit group that serves the needs of many youth and some seniors. The Food Bank has been a life saver. We frequent the warehouse fairly regularly and over the last year, I have seen many changes and all have been major improvements. They've expanded the food distribution area, they've added additional refrigeration, upgraded their display shelves and replaced their old racking system. \r

The management has streamlined the way food is dispursed amongst the 75-100 agencies and provided additional protections so the food is always fresh and the meat is always frozen. There always seems to be a tremendous variety of food, including, eggs, yogurt, cheese, milk, fresh fruit and vegetables and the meat is distributed about as fairly as can be - considering the commodity it is at extremely reasonable handling fee. \r
\r
I've been to the other two food banks in Mira Mesa, and trust me Bigger is not always Better. North County's Food Bank, is very gracious and cheerful and they usually have a wider selection of foods, from snacks to food staples, from Refrigerated to Right from the Grower (usually local).\r
\r
Even during the recent quarantines, the management worked in accordance with DofA so they could continue to provide all of us the fresh product we need. (they never said otherwise - but that must have been a major challenge). It actually made it fun, because we shopped in a tent with all the netting. Canned foods at times are a challenge, but I was there yesterday and they had any canned good I needed and more, much more.\r
\r
Thank God for this food bank and all of the needs they satisfy every month. Local, close and very fresh.
