Review content:
I just Googled Sagamore Springs to get a telephone number so I could reserve a tee time , and thought I would see what people had to say in the ""review"" section .There were two reviews and I was surprised to see that both were negative -- complaining about wait time ,expense , the less than challanging course ,a pushy ranger , and mediocre conditions .I find Google reviews to be generally helpful ;but when a poor review is posted , rarely do I see the object of that poor review respond. The review therefore stands unchallanged . So I'll take this opportunity to speak up in defense of Sagamore Springs . I should qualify my comments by saying that I am neither a poor golfer nor a great one . I don't golf on a regular basis ; but over the past 30 years I have golfed not only at many private and public courses in New England , but also courses outside of New England --such as Hilton Head .So here's MY take on Sagamore Springs .Frist of all, who goes to a public course without a tee time and expects to march up to the tee box as soon as he gets there ? Not me , that's for sure . I have never felt pushed by a Sagamore official during the many times I have played there . In fact , I have always found them to be very helpful and down-to-earth guys . Occasionally ,I have been pressured by a fast playing twosome behind me, but I simply let them play through as I would at any other course . I think the greens fees are comparable to similar public courses in MA and NH .Occasionally , I have found the greens to be in less than optimal condition , but this was usually only at the beginning of the season and after a harsh winter. As far as the degree of difficulty of the course is concerned , it's not an Augusta National course ; but neither is it a par 3 course or one with miniture windmills to putt under .For the reviewer who wants more of a challange , I suggest he that he should go to Hilton Head .Perhaps the satisfaction of a bigger challange will justify the bigger greens fees . The money he saves on blood pressure meds by not going to places like Sagamore can be saved for those fees . I have found my days at Sagamore to be an opportunity to spend a peaceful 3-4 hours with friends in an attractive, serene setting . JUST MY OPINION . PET
