Review content:
Kevin is the best diagnostic mechanic I have ever met. In 1 day he diagnosed my car's ailment and had it fixed, when others, even the dealer couldn't. His prices are very fair and he does such thorough work.\r
\r
First the dealer tries to take me to the cleaners-\r
My car was intermittently loosing power. I have a high end Kia. There are alot of articles on the internet debating what causes this condition in the Amanti. However, when I brought it to the Ventura Kia dealership, they kept it for a week of diagnosing and at the end of that week told me the only thing they could do was change the spark plugs (which I had just put in by a Santa Barbara mechanic) to CHAMPIONS. WHAT?\r
The new spark plugs from the SB mechanic were in fact NKG's which is what KIA uses, but the Ventura dealership wanted me to pay them $500 to replace the correct KIA spark plugs with CHAMPIONS. After that, they made it clear this was experimental so it was probably going to take alot of replacing random parts to find out what was wrong.\r
I WAS LIVID!! Can't these guys read the internet articles diagnosing the problem and at least get a probable bead on the problem? I guess not, if your intent is to milk the customer rather than honestly fix the problem. And how blatantly dishonest to tell me the car needed champion spark plugs.\r
\r
THEN ENTERS OUR HERO KEVIN!\r
I used to go to Kevin religously when I lived in Ventura but after moving to Santa Barbara and getting a new car, I had stopped going to him. I thankfully remembered him and gave him a call. In 1 day, he had the car working, which needed its coils replaced and a timing gadget replaced. In 1 DAY!\r
\r
I had always known Kevin was a good mechanic but it was with this difficult diagnosis that I realized Kevin is a GREAT MECHANIC. And an honest person as well. I am never going anywhere else, regardless of what I drive because Kevin breaths mechanics and can fix anything, he is a true master mechanic.
