Review content:
I've been going to I Love Sushi for about two years now. It's never been my favorite sushi spot but it's really close to my house, affordable, friendly, etc. The O toro situation has gone completely south in the last 6 months though, to the point that I either won't go there anymore, or just will not order their o toro.\r
\r
I've ordered o toro 4 times recently, and each time it's been ice cold, tough, stringy, chewy and basically inedible. O toro should be the opposite of all of those! The first time it happened, we mentioned it to the chef who nicely comped us another order; unfortunately was as bad as the first. Because of my history with the place and my love of o toro, I kept giving it a shot, hoping it was just a fluke. After 4 times though, I think it's a trend. My theory: I suspect they are buying o toro and keeping it in the freezer for long periods, since they've always had o toro when I've been lately and it always is served near frozen.\r
\r
I'd much rather have fresher, unfrozen o toro available intermittently depending on the market than this frozen stuff. I understand fish is frozen as part of its processing, but it shouldn't be served this way.\r
\r
The other nigiri and maki items are tasty and reliable. I haven't tried the non-sushi menu items.
Pros: Friendly, good variety
Cons: Terrible o toro
