Icelander Jon Magnusson and his Brazilian wife Carmen are gracious hosts in their little bistro in the Crossroads shopping area just off Hwy 1 in Carmel. We have been having lunch there for years, but only recently went there for dinner, and were very pleasantly surprised. I have eaten in restaurants around the world, and can say that the dishes we had were world-class. The menu is not long, but what they do they do very well, and obviously take pride in their creations. I can particularly recommend the mushroom cappuccino and the smoked salmon quesadilla (Jon smokes his own salmon, and it is excellent). But they also have hamburgers, steaks, etc. And they are kid-friendly, with a kid's menu and crayons for the artists in the family to draw on the paper table covers. Great place!\r Pros: Excellent food. Cons: Small. Make reservations to be sure of a table.
