My wife took her civic in for a recall...thinking no big deal. Got a call later that the A/C doesn't work. I knew it worked earlier that morning. The service consultant spoke with my wife prior to me and told him she is the primary driver and didn't know if it worked that morning or not. I told him it did but he tried to switch it around saying I didn't know as I was not the primary driver and she couldn't recall....even though I got the car out in the morning. They wanted $107 to diagnose the problem but after a heated discussion I told him to park it and I will come get it. The conversation really heated up when I asked him how do I know they didn't cause the problem. After my wife enjoying a hot ride home I popped the hood and found the problem in seconds...yes, literally seconds! Amazingly it was in the same area in which they had to work. The wires by the alternator leading down to the compressor were cut. I took pictures and emailed them to Don the service manager and Chad the service consultant. I did not get a return phone call for two business days even though I sent and the email and left 2 voicemails. Don called me back to discuss this and acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. He said that a rodent did it. Yep, a rodent made a nice clean cut through 4 wires and did not chew up anything else. Funny though, if a rodent did do this, wouldn't the mechanic see it since it was in the same area he was working? I found it in seconds and so did my wife when I asked her if she saw anything wrong but this trained mechanic never saw or mentioned anything. Don mentioned his mechanic wouldn't do it and wasn't in that area. The belt was replaced so this automatically puts the mechanic in this area without a doubt. I asked Don if the mechanic at any time touched the alternator (since this is where the wires are), he would not answer me. I currently have a call into an American Honda rep to see if this can be settled but from what I can tell, it is going to be a hard fight. My wife bought her last two cars from this dealership, we will never vist them or consider them for anything again! Cons: Service Mistakes
