Another South Williamsburg gem! It took me 2 years to finally eat a proper potterhouse here and see what the “best steak in NYC” tastes like. Getting reservations on a Sunday afternoon was surprisingly easy – provided you make them about a month in advance. Don’t even attempt to make dinner reservations unless you’re prepared to dine at 5pm or 10pm.
As expected, this NYC institution has an old school atmosphere, with quirky bartenders and no-nonsense waitstaff. It all added to the memorable experience nonetheless. The bread that came with the steaksauce was wonderful. We stuck to the staples – cream spinach and giant tomato slices with fresh mozzarella as sides, and a potterhouse steak for 2 (our party was 1 guy and 2 girls – the perfect combo for a potterhouse). The food came out very quickly to our pleasant surprise, as we were starving. There was more fat on the meat than I had preferred, although the steak was really delicious. Some parts were a little tough and chewy but for the most part, the meat was tender and very tasty, esp the part that you carve out of the t-bone (yum!).
All in all, it was such a delightful experience and such an adventure to come out to Brooklyn for; this is the kind of meal that you’ll cherish with close friends for a lifetime!
Pros: Potterhouse, Quick Service
Cons: Dinner Reservations, Cash Only Policy
