Review content:
My daughter had bilateral hydronephrosis prenatally-her kidneys were enlarged due to them not draining properly.\r
\r
We consulted with Dr. Voigt during my pregancy. Her kidneys were okay when she was born, but testing showed that her left kidney was not functioning properly and a pyloplasty was needed to remove the blockage in her ureter and reattach to the kidney with a stent.\r
\r
Dr. Voigt performed the surgery when she was 3 months old, which went great. Her scar is barely visible. We soon found out that the stent was not working properly & needed to be replaced. The reason for this will always be a mystery-perhaps it was improperly placed or it just moved.\r
\r
Our first issue was that a nuclear medicine study was needed when she was 1. We all agreed she would be under sedation for the procedure. After receiving the paperwork stating there would be sedation, going to Baltimore, and watching my baby scream from the terror and pain of being held down and an IV inserted--after ALL of this--we find out that Voigt's office failed to schedule the sedation. Since no one was available to monitor her sedation, the nuclear study could not be done.\r
\r
They actually had the audacity to keep insisting she would be fine being strapped down for an ENTIRE HOUR and that she would stop crying after 10 minutes, or we could put her to sleep and do the study--we told them both of those options were cruel and would traumatized her. We explained that she would scream the entire time and there was no way we would have her wake up horrified and strapped down. We had to reschedule the procedure and she became terrified of ALL clinical settings.\r
\r
She needs periodic ultrasounds to check her kidneys, and just had one done on June 30th. It's now September, and after 6 phone calls, I still have not received a phone call to discuss the test results.\r
\r
I now have to send a Certified letter to Dr. Voigt to obtain my daughter's results.
Pros: He is an excellent and experience surgeon with a calm and caring manner.
Cons: Parking Fees
