FROM THE FIRST DAY I WAS INTRODUCED TO PATHFINDER SCHOOL IN THE 5TH GRADE, WITH MY FIRST HOMEROOM TEACHER MARY MYERS, I WAS GIVEN AN EDUCATION WITH AND FOR MY NEEDS. AS I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH LUEKEMIA IN 1972, THE EARLY YEARS WERE QUITE A STRUGGLE FOR ME. ALL OF THE TEACHERS UNTIL MY GRADUATION IN 1979, WERE WONDERFUL. I RETURNED FOR THREE MORE YEARS OF POST GRADUATE STUDIES AS I WAS STILL FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE.\r HERE IT'S 2009, AND I'M LIVING IN WILLIAMSBURG VIRGINIA. 48 YEARS OLD, WORKING IN A RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY AS A SECURITY OFFI CER. I GO ON-LINE TO THE PITTSBURGH POST GAZETTE TO SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH MY OLD SCHOOL. I'VE READ THERE'S NOT TO MANY STUDENTS LEFT, AND A LOT OF ARTICLES TALK ABOUT IT'S DOORS CLOSING FOR GOOD. IT MAKES ME THINK BACK AND REMEMBER ALL THOSE YEARS WERE IF THE SCHOOL HAD NOT BEEN THERE, I DON'T KNOW IF I COULD HAVE MADE IT. TO ALL MY TEACHERS THANKS FOR YOUR WONDERFUL CARE AND SERVICE.\r \r SINCERELY YOURS\r JAMES COX\r CLASS OF 1979. Pros: THE TEACHERS AND STAFF. Cons: BATTLING CANCER MY YEARS AT PATHFINDER.
