An Insurance agent who cost me close to $1000 due to negligence and extortion. When I decided to move to California from my home in Missouri, as a courtesy call, I left her a message on her answering machine that I had moved to California and had obtained car insurance for my Jeep Liberty. They handled my home, car and everything insurance. Since my car was being registered in the state of California, my auto insurance needed to change to that state as well. This agent never returns calls and she also never answers her phone eventhough she claims to be an insurance business with regular business hours. I began getting postal mail from my mortgage company. I didn't pay much attention to them since initially since they mostly sent me information about refinancing or some other product. I always pay my mortgage online through my BillPay and it is the same amount every month. I have always paid my homeowner's insurance and taxes in full separately when due and do not use any kind of escrow for either. I opened up the mail one day from my lender and I noticed there was an area of correspondence that said something about not having any record of any fire coverage for my house. Of course I thought this was a misprint or a mistake so I immediately called IndyMac Bank to find out why I received this letter. They informed me that I had not had any insurance coverage on the home for months and that as a result they placed lender based coverage on the home for a period of 3 months which was almost $1000. This caused my $740 mortgage payment (without my additional insurance and taxes included) to go up to about $925 until the escrow for the lender based insurance was paid off. What was more disturbing than not knowing that I had no coverage whatsoever and that without my knowledge or consent agent cancelled the coverage, but that my house would not have been covered if something had happened and I could have lost my house. I called this agent for weeks leaving message after message to which I received no response. It wasn't until I left a threatening message to contact my attorney and the DOI that she returned my call. I had left over 18 messages. She told me that I was ""S___ out of Luck"" and used several profane words which was entirely unprofessional. I told her I would be contacting Kemper to find out how my policy could be cancelled without my knowing it and why no one made me aware of it. She told me if I did that, she would tell Kemper that my policy was only for an owner occupied policy and not a renter's policy and that in turn, they would go back and rescind the policy, send me a refund for the year and that she would call my lender and tell them that there was no insurance in place causing them to issue a full year's worth of lender based insurance which would cost me in excess of $4,000.00. I asked her if she would use her Error and Omission insurance and she told me that my ""measly $900 isn't worth her errors and ommission insurance and that I could eat the cost myself"". I told her I would be seeking reimbursement through the court or any other avenues I could and then she told me to shove it. She kept my refund check for months knowing I had no insurance and never bothered to let me know, very disturbing and unprofessional behavior in my opinion. Her excuse for not returning 17 of my phone calls was that she wasn't feeling like it. I could have lost my house because of her and now I am behind close to $1,000 because of her negligence and lack of concern. I did call Kemper Insurance company who could not believe that this happened. They told me she was completely wrong and that she was no longer representing them. If you want an insurance agent who likes to pull the wool over your eyes, use negligence when it comes to your most valuable belongings, never return your calls because they could care less about you, hire this agency. You can have the experience I am having wanting to warn others of their extreme unprofessionalism.\r
