High-End Interiors and Mr. Gabriel Hanc - A Homeowners worse Nightmare!
No option to give 0 stars.
A cautionary tale for other homeowners looking to remodel their home, or just get some work done. I thought I did my due dilligence hiring an experienced contractor who could do the job. Boy was I wrong!
Contracted to do a full gut remodel of a city condo. Before deciding to hire Gabriel Hanc d.b.a. High-End Interiors, interviewed a number of other contractors and got other bids. Met numerous times before work started, talked to 2 references (later I talked to others with not so kind words - wish I knew.....) Signed contract for work to be done, gave downpayment. He did the demolition and started to build the place back up, and that's when red flags started to go up. Ex; hanging regular drywall as a sofit over the tub and shower areas (that was to be tiled) - come on ?? Durock on all other walls. Hanging drywall and not using a square to make sure corners are right. Walls that are 1/2"" off angle - not acceptable. And many many more ""little mistakes"". His standard excuse - your walls are not straight - well, build them right then. A novel concept?? Or, other favorite, I have always done it this way.
Walked off job and refused to complete. Left the place with raw walls and stud bare bathrooms - completely gutted. Place not livable. Paying rent and looking for someone else to finish the job right.
Think twice (or more) before you let this guy into your home!!! Don't let him fool you. Very costly mistake!
