Review content:
Finding a quality mechanic is never easy and seldom enjoyable. For those of you on a quest for a new mechanic, this is a shop you should avoid.
I took my old truck in for an issue I created. I broke a bolt off in the engine block putting on the fuel pump and didn't have the tools nor the patients to fix it myself. I called around, read reviews, and settled on this shop. They quoted me some rough numbers on the phone before bringing it in and sounded like they knew what they were doing for a fair price.
So the adventure began. I gave them a list of four things I knew were an issue but the number one thing I needed done was to fix the broken bolt and get it running smoothly. Week and a half later they called me back all proud letting me know they had looked the truck over and had a bunch of things they could fix. The total to fix it all... about $2500+. Their prices for each item seemed very high so I told them thank you but no, just fix what I asked you to fix. Disappointed, they agreed and said they would call when it was ready. When they called, I went down to pick it up. The issue was fixed and it was running great they assured me. I went out to start it and it wouldn't start. ""Oh that's right, its out of gas"" they tell me. I looked at them blankly expecting them to hurry off to correct said problem. No, I had to push to get them to put gas in it. I brought it in with gas and I expected to drive it home with some. Wasn't asking for a full tank or anything, just a couple gallons. Try as they might they weren't able to get gas in it (another story and it played to circus music). The guy finally hands me a gas can and tells me to get the gas. Talk about lack of customer service. I went home, got my own gas can and drove back and put in the gas. Wouldn't start. After 30mins of trying to start it on my own with no help from them I marched back in and told them I want it to run and won't take it back until it's running.
Five days later I get a call telling me it's ready. They found a problem with the carburetor and want to rebuild it. He assures me this will be my cure all and it will run like a champ. How much I ask.. $350. I called a couple reputable carb shops and they can do it for $125. No thanks I tell them but is it drivable in the state it's in now? You bet. we cleaned out the gas lines and its running just fine. The carb rebuild was to fix a ""flat spot off idle"".
Second quest to pick up the truck. Sure it starts but it was hardly drivable. At this point a shop that takes pride in their work would have been embarrassed and done whatever they could to help out. Not this place. They let me borrow a couple tools and let me try to fix it myself while they went back inside their shop to get out of the rain. The fuel filter was so full of junk from them ""cleaning out the gas line"" that the carb wasn't getting gas. I was able to clean it out, get the truck running and nurse it home popping and sputtering the whole way.
Where am I now? Out close to $600 with a truck that still is not drivable. My warning to all. Research better than I did and learn from my mistake. If you need brakes done, go to a break shop, carb work, go to a carb shop, etc. Maybe they know how to change oil or windshield washer fluid but not much else. I will let everyone I know, this is not a place to take your vehicle. They were slow, extremely high priced, and have no concept of customer service. Lesson learned.
Cons: Expensive and not very knowledgeable
