Review content:
We rented a home from what was then Utah R&I in West Jordan, Utah. We moved in over 2 years ago. Several times we've received eviction notices telling us we were months past due, when we had the receipts, cancelled checks and books to show we were on time. We repeatedly asked for an accounting, and were completely ignored. It's interesting that the eviction notices always went away when we asked to compare their books with ours. Repairs were done slowly or not at all. it took two weeks to get the garbage disposal repaired, and over 9 months to get the back fence replaced. We've been waiting since August to get the leaking water heater replaced. It's now February. They taped a three day eviction notice on the front door (we were home . . . they didn't bother to knock) stating we were two months behind in the rent. We called Eden Burton and she set an appointment to meet with us to go over our books and theirs on Saturday 1/16/2010. We waited at the appointed time for over an hour and a half. No show, not even a courtesy call to let us know she wasn't coming. Their book keeper, Cheryl, would not even return our calls. When I finally talked with Eden she stated she was going to file the 3 day eviction with the courts on the next day. I told her that would be great, and we could subpoena the owner, the business officers and the books and let the judge determine who owed who. The eviction notice disappeared mysteriously and was replaced by a notice telling us our lease was not going to be renewed and we were given till February 28 to move out.\r There is so much more to tell about our experience it would take a novel. The company moved to Henderson, Nevada. (Could that be a result of the complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau? They have had 8 complaints filed with the Utah Better Business Bureau in the last 36 months, ours will make 9. None have been replied to.) We recently sent them copies of our rent receipts, including a copy of our books showing our records which indicated we were on time with the rent. We got a nasty letter back from their book keeper, Cheryl, who won't talk to us on the phone, stating they had not recieved the money orders matching the last two photocopied money order receipts and we needed to put a trace on them or they would evict us. Those money orders were in the same envelope as the copies of the receipts.\r Well, we're moving, but not without filing our complaints with the Better Business Bureau here in Utah, and the one in Henderson, Nevada. I expect we will also send copies of all our dealings with R&I to the owner of the house.\r Recommendation: If it says ""R&I"", run and find someone else to invest in and to rent from. Cons: Everything else
