Review content:
My husband and I just got back from an amazing night away. We started our afternoon by taking a leisurely drive up the Gorge - only about 30 min away from PDX. We checked in, relaxed in the beautifully appointed Roosevelt suite and then after a quick visit to the delightlful chicken coop!, we took a leisurely walk in the country enjoying the fresh air and pastoral setting. We then changed for dinner and were seated at a window seat so that we might enjoy the breath-taking view of the city. Dinner was fantastic - truly gourmet - with attentive yet relaxed service. We thoroughly enjoyed our carrot soup and steak dinners followed by scrumptious blue cheese cheesecake and tiramisu. Following this, we retired to our room, described nicely above by another review and I second the lovely decor, cleanliness and note the L'Occitane-brand toiletries. We particularly enjoyed the lack of phone and TV in our room and after a restful sleep and run in the hills, were greeted with our complimentary breakfast in the main dining room - freshly baked scones - delicate on the inside and buttery crispness on the outside, fresh tarts, beautifully prepared and presented fruits, fresh-squeezed OJ and coffee. Fantastic!! It was hard to leave and we'll be back again. PS - We celebrated our wedding reception here 9 years ago and it remains one of the memorable details of that day as well!
