Worst experience ever for Mother's day brunch... My husband and I decided to to take our 2 young children ages 1 and 2 1/2 to eat at Mosquito Cafe. The children were well behaved while waiting for service. We did not mind waiting in line for 40mins; 15 of which was outside standing with the 2 babies. We did not mind because we were chatting with other customers and their kids. It was Mother's day after all and we were in a great mood. We had noticed that there were numerous tables with RESERVED signs on them the whole time we were waiting. None of which had been occupied during our wait. When we got to the counter to order I told my husband that I would grab one of the tables that was unoccupied and unreserved. I was one step away from the table when the owner puts a RESERVED sign on it. Picture this: you are carrying two children and the owner of a business takes your table for “imaginary people”who will be “here in 5 minutes”. The owner points me to a table that was at the entrance where everyone including ourselves had to squeeze through to get inside, or go to their patio; aka, parking lot. With a 2 year old I declined the ""patio""; where he could get out. After explaining to the owner my situation and telling him we would be fast he was unwilling to accommodate us. Had we not already payed (including tip) for our meal at the counter, we would have walked away and gone to the Sunflower Cafe (just down the street). A nice couple sitting at another table witnessed my conversation with the owner quickly finished their meal and offered me their table (thank you again). We had our food served to us, ate our meal, and left. When we left , ALL of the reserved seating WAS STILL UNOCCUPIED! I understand that it was Mother's day. I understand that the restaurant is small. But take care of the customers that are physically waiting in your establishment not to mention already paid for the meal. The phrase “a bird in hand is better than two in a bush” comes to mind.
Pros: Fast food (once you have ordered)
Cons: For that $$$ to order at the counter and fight for a seat?
