Ive been a patient of Dr Kmucha since 2004. I was dizzy and my family doctor told me I had vertigo from an ear problem and kept giving me meclizine medicine. After nearly a year, I went to Dr Kmucha. He asked me to explain what I was feeling and asked lots and lots of difficult questions about my dizziness. We talked about the medical definition of vertigo; I then realized that I wasnt having vertigo. He also explained to me the possible problems from taking meclizine for too long. Dr Kmucha sent me to the Balance Center for some tests too; he talked to me about the tests and explained what the test could tell and what it couldnt. But it was his opinioin from the tests that I didnt have an ear problem. He arranged a visit with a neurologist, who did more tests; the neurologist told me I had an ear problem. I asked Dr Kmucha about this, and he recommended a second opinion with another ear specialist; the other ear specialist told me that I had a neurology problem, not an ear problem. He recommended a second opinion from a different neurologist; I went again to another neurologist who did no tests and told me that I had an ear problem. I talked to my family doctor about this, and she recommended a neurology visit at UCSF or Stanford; I went to Stanford and the neurologist there found an infection in my brain fluid. They started treatment, and the dizziness went away and has never come back. Because I have allergies, sinus problems and breathing problems when I sleep, my treatment was complicated. Dr Kmucha took care of all these problems while I was still going to Stanford. All of my problems are under control, and the dizziness has never returned. It was true that my dizziness was a neurology problem and not an ear problem. In all my years of visits, he was never rude. I take my children to Dr Kmucha too.
