Review content:
I decided to get my hair trimmed yesterday afternoon around 2pm, after not having scissors put to my hair in nine months, since I have been growing my hair out. It was close to work, so I decided to take a stroll over to Famous Hair. I also didn't have a lot of money on me, but just enough for a $14 trim. I've had good luck with this place the year before when I had my last trim. I didn't have to wait very long, but I would've had to wait TWO HOURS for a master stylist. So I just thought I'd be fine with a regular stylist. My stylist called my name, but didn't tell me hers. Barely spoke a word to me, and to be honest, she came off as quite rude/bitchy. She did ask me, ""so, what are we doing today"" but it was not in a very nice tone. I like to feel like I'm welcome in her salon chair, and not like I'm putting her out by being there. I told her I wanted long layers, not short/choppy ones, layers in my hair that didn't make it look obvious. I asked her if that's what she thought would work in my hair, since it's waist length. She had an attitude like, ""Oh I really don't care."" I was trying to be very specific, since I did not want a hair disaster like I have had in the past. So, she didn't wash my hair, just sprayed it down barely a couple of times. I've always been told that hair cuts better when it's wet. I didn't think about it, and didn't know if the shampoo was included or not. I assumed she knew what she was doing, and just sat there. Not once did she make an attempt to have a conversation with me like every other stylist I've had in years past, and if I spoke she rolled her eyes, and really didn't give me the feeling that she cared. She was not gentle with my hair - when she combed, she pulled, causing some damage to my hair, I'm sure. It's not like I came to her chair with a rat's nest. I made it known that I didn't like it, and it hurt. She barely responded. I wasn't going to stop her cutting my hair midway through, so I just dealt with it. She also complained about how soft/silky my hair was, that she could barely grasp it. Like it was a bad thing. For a TRIM It took her 45 minutes from beginning to finish. Not once did she make a comment how good my hair looked, or anything. Nothing positive came from this stylist, except for the fact she cut it like I wanted. I did not tip her, regardless of her actually getting my trim right, she was not pleasant, and being pleasant while I'm in a salon chair meant a lot to me. I would've loved to have spoken to a manager to tell her of my experience, but that is usually the master stylist. So yes...even though she did not butcher my hair, it was not a good experience. Next time, I will save my money and go to Toni & Guy, or Modern Salon. Pros: Convenient, inexpensive Cons: Master stylist not always available
