If you're looking for a full-service dive shop, make the drive down to Cool Springs and visit the PADI 5-Star rated Middle TN Scuba & Swim (MTSS). Their large retail area stocks a lot of products you'd have to order sight-unseen from another local shop. They carry Scubapro and Aqua-Lung (SeaQuest/Apeks) equipment and have an on-staff technician to service your gear and keep in under warranty. Their gear packages are a great value and students can get additional discounts. A large heated indoor pool (3.5' to 12' deep) is onsite and is used for scuba and swim classes, birthday parties or personal rental. Available PADI classes range from entry-level certification to assistant instructor, with lots of specialties. There is not a better local resource for underwater photography as the owner is a professional UW photographer and teaches photo classes & seminars. Swim lessons from infant to adult are also available. A full-service travel department can assist you in your personal trip planning, or you can join one of the many trips hosted by MTSS staff and contract instructors during the year. Trips range from local, Florida to Caribbean, to around the world ""exotics."" I've been to Fiji with them as well as the Bahamas (twice) and had a blast traveling with other divers from the area, as well as an instructor trip-host. A large staff of full-time and contract instructors ensure convenient class scheduling and personal service. Certification can be completed locally in fresh water or on any MTSS trip. My extended family drives down from Kentucky to shop and learn at MTSS and participates in their trips and events. A ""VID"" (very important diver) points program is available to earn discounts and products from dollar-points from purchases. Gift certificates are available. Try scuba diving in the pool for around $20/person with no experience necessary. Swim & Scuba parties are great for children and adults alike and are a unique party idea, especially in winter.
