Review content:
I was in San Francisco recently for 9 days and didn't have a chance to get my waxing done in NY before I left. I was considering getting my legs and bikini done at a small shop on Haight St.
I am a licensed cosmetologist, so I am a pretty well informed consumer of spa services. I called the small shop and started asking questions about their waxing and they actually said, ""If you're picky, this is probably not the right place for you."" (The reason I am not naming the shop is that I appreciated their honesty so much.) I asked where I should go and they said, ""Skin City. They're the best."" When you get that kind of referral from a competitor, you know the place has got to be good.
When I arrived, I immediately loved the cozy, down-to-earth decor. Tiffany was my waxer, and honestly, she blew me away. I'm a huge baby about waxing; it usually takes me forever to get through a bikini wax.
Tiffany was so fast and so thorough, it was amazing. After the waxing she went over everything with a tweezer. Pain was minimal. I'm not saying it didn't hurt at all, but it hurt about 75% less than any other waxing I've ever had done. I'm not sure whether it's her technique or the products they use that account for that.
For one thing, instead of powdering the areas prior to waxing, she applied a very light oil. Tiffany told me the oil helps the wax adhere to the hair, but not tug the skin. Needless to say, I'm a fan!
We go to SF fairly often and I'm definitely going to wait to get my waxing done when we get there from now on. I am so happy I found this place.
Also very impressed with their pricing. Full leg wax with bikini plus cost only $90, which was considerably less than the other place I had considered, Fix in the Mission, which was $80 for full leg and $50 for modern bikini (bikini plus at Skin City).
Two weeks later, my legs and bikini are unusually smooth. I can't recommend Skin City and Tiffany highly enough.
