Our family joined in January of 2009. Even though it was expensive, we did try to view the big picture with regards to the health benefits and childcare that was available.\r \r We left our 6 wk old son in the care of staff that was by no means suitable to working in the facility at all, underaged, inexperienced. Not to mention there was far more children in their care than should've been, and it was very obvious their attentions were not on our son the whole time, as he was left in his carrier so that these girls could attend to their ""favorites"".\r \r Then we opted for regular preschool through them, hearing so many great things, what a disaster! They mixed our six-month-old sons formula up with another childs, which he later broke out in hives from. They did apologize, and my husband and I being new parents shrugged the incident off as ""accidents happen"" but even their apology came off insisncere and problems only continued. It was always so unorganized, and when fall came and they brought these new care givers in my son was obviously not getting the one-on-one we were assured of. Not to mention, the diaper rashes were constant, which ceased once we took him out. To give them a schedule was a joke, I don't believe he ever once was given a nap, as someone else was always occupying the crib, and that meant misery for him and us later in the day. His clothes were always a disaster, or just plain missing, he'd be just a mess by the end of the day, leaving me to think either these people are lazy, or they're far to occupied with other things. And not once, even though he was there from June-November did he ever get any outdoor play! \r \r My advice is definately do not enroll your child in any kind of program having to do with the YMCA! The price is actually a little higher than some other options locally, and for peace of mind if anything, stay away! Once we took our son out in late October 2009with still another couple months left in his enrollment, I felt so relieved, no more mystery bumps and bruises, diaper rashes or even late afternoon melt downs! Not to mention the director, Shelley...how phoney can one person be?\r \r We also cancelled our membership at the time, and wow what a hassle that was! With all the unemployment in MI you'd think they could find more suitable, intelligent and friendly staff to work in this beautiful facility! Very very disappointed in our whole experience all around, would not reccommend on any level!!!! Pros: Facility is clean and fairly new Cons: Unfriendly staff, high prices, child care not great!
