Review content:
We took our dog to K9's for In-Kennel Training and while it is clear that they worked with our dog they did NOT even come close to what was promised! The specific issues that we took him there for were not addressed. I can say he is better behaved around the house but we needed more socialization and work with other dogs. We picked up our dog in July and we are still having issues with him. We have done many many follow ups and meetings with Bobby and the trainers. I personally work with our dog everyday so this is not an issue where we did not follow up! They did take the time to get back to us and they said all of the right things. They continued to ""want to help us"" but we just never saw any changes as we would work with him and do the ""homework"" Bobby would suggest. My Husband and I realized that the lifetime guarantee really doesn't help when all of the training must take place at the facility! So while I can't say they didn't help us or train our dog at all.....I can say that they did maybe 50% (if that) of what was talked about and explained to us. As far as ""heavy-handed"" trainers (which another review makes reference to) I now would agree with that. I think they tend to be a little rough with the pinch collars. A lot of yanking around and I didn't like that my dog would yelp, it made me very uncomfortable.
I was referred to a dog trainer through our pet-sitting service and honestly it's like night and day!! He only trains where the dog lives and walks....etc. If there is anywhere you'd like to go with the dog he will meet you there! He brings different dogs with him to socialize the animals. He also taught me in one session how to properly use a pinch and let the animal do the correction with their own body weight. He is amazing, and it's half the price of a private session at K9's. He spends as long as it takes (2 to 3 hours sometimes) and would not take more money! He is completely passionate and trains only with compassion for the dogs.
I'm writing this because I just want people to really think about this and to make an informed decision! I want people to know that there are passionate trainers out there who really want to help you! I feel, if your having specific issues with your dog this may not be the place but I also realize that you are the only one that will decide where to take your beloved pet!
