The food at Mez is awful. It really is. I hate to be so blunt, but for what it costs (I spent $130 last night between dinner and a movie), it has been a disappointing experience for me on the last three occasions. I first went to Mez back in 2008 for an event and had appetizers. I was intrigued so I went back again about a month later for dinner. Loved the food (which had more of a Mediterranean vibe), and I loved the ambiance. I went back again in spring 2010 and the food was still good. However, I went a couple of months later in August 2010, and there was a new menu and a new chef. I tried the Salmon with dill butter which tasted like it had been poisoned. I immediately sent it back. I tried the Mahi Mahi....awful as well. Not even palatable. I just gave up and didn't eat. Yes, I'm a little crazy for going back two times after hating it, but I really wanted to love Mez. I was told that the chef had improved the menu, so I went again a few months later. The food was still bad the next time. And last night, I went and had the cod and my hubby had the lobster tail. Both were really bad and not really edible. And the dessert menu was a joke! The server recommended the ice cream sandwiches which are basically choc. chip cookies and vanilla ice cream. I can make that in my kitchen. I expect more from a restaurant. When I went last night, I only chose Mez because my hubby and I were seeing a movie in the theatre. However, I will have go to Flemings or Ruth's Chris instead next time which both have AMAZING food. Yeah, it's not the same vibe, but at least I will be excited about what I'm eating. And just to give you a little bit of background about me, I've lived in Chicago, New York and Boston...all places with great restaurants. I'm a foodie and Mez has just been a disappointment for me. I recommend that the chef reconsider the menu. Or the management should search for a new chef. Please!!! I really want to like Mez but I can't with the current menu. I have a group of 6 girlfriends that I've gone there with who all feel the same way. There's no way that place can stay in biz with food that bad.
