Review content:
Most of you would probably drive by this place and not even think about stopping. Probably for the same reasons I did many times. For one it's in a strip mall next to a CiCi's pizza and Kroger. Secondly it's in Columbia and how good can Japanese food in Columbia be right? Well it's flipping fantastic. It's better than any Japanese food I've had in Nashville. When you step inside you forget you are in a strip mall. The bamboo floors and other first class appointments to the interior really set it apart from the normal hibachi places in Nashville. Now they didn't have the money to lease a place large enough to have hibachi tables, and so they do have to make it in the back and bring it to your table. I know many people go for the atmosphere and I admit I was bummed at first also, but once I got the food and took a bite I was sold. Most hibachi places overcook the Chicken, but this place does it just right. The steak is always tender and cooked to the temp ordered. I have never had to even consider sending something back. For appetizers I recommend the Negimaki. It's tender strips of beef wrapped around scallions (green onions) with a teriyaki sauce, and just simply amazing. I've never had a bad Hibachi or Tempura dish there, and the sushi is great as well. The Sushi chef is Aidan and he, like most, has his own sushi roll which is great. I also recommend the deep fried sushi rolls, this is the South after all. :-) I've never had room for desert, but it's probably good as well. They also have a nice selection of sake and imported beer. The wait staff is always attentive and personable as well.
Pros: Great Hibachi and Sushi
Cons: umm I didn't go sooner?
