Review content:
Danube Bistro has a great appearance, but no substance. I came here with two friends for lunch. We had a $25 off coupon, so we thought it'd be nice to try something new. Overall, the atmosphere and the service was good, but the food itself was horribly overpriced for the quality of the meal.\r \r The interior is cozy, and is beautifully decorated in attractive colors. The place looked great in the natural light from the windows, and it probably looks very romantic at night.\r \r We ordered fried calamari as a starter, and it looked great?until we actually ate it. It was fried in a light batter that masked the most salty calamari I've ever come across. It was so salty that it tasted like it had been marinated in brine. Our waitress tried a piece and agreed; she took it away and brought us another plate, but the second attempt (if it was even a second plate and not just the first plate returned to us) was no better.\r \r For main entrees, we ordered beef ghoulash, beef stroganoff, and spaghetti bolognese. \r \r The spaghetti seemed to be decent. However, how hard is it to make spaghetti? My friend said that she didn't believe it was anything special, and that she could make something similar herself at home. \r \r The beef stroganoff quite underwhelming. The beef was greasy and not even that tender. The flavoring of the sauce over it was very muddy and it didn't complement or enhance the beef at all. The dish also included bland gnocchi, and typical steamed vegetables. There was nothing remarkable about this dish whatsoever.\r \r Beef ghoulash: Overall, it was disappointing. It's basically high quality stew meat in a small amount of mildly flavored gravy. The dish should've been spicier and cheaper. The dumplings may have been absolutely authentic, but they made me think of slices of unbaked u-bake bread.\r \r We got the bill, which totaled $57 after the coupon. This was quite a pricey meal for food that was so disappointing. I would have been happier eating at McDonald's. Pros: Beautiful atmosphere Cons: Overpriced, and food is way off the mark
