I do not recommend the CNY MMA gym in any way. Their instructors are not background checked to work with children, one of which is a recovering meth addict. The gym is in shambles compared to any fitness center our family has experienced, and that is quite a few on our list. We pulled our children from class and voided our contract after an instructor decided to match our oldest up against another child of a heavier weight class and higher skill level just to show him a lesson. They did this only because my son was paired with the assistant instructor, Kurtis the recovering drug addicts, son Zach. Our son accidentally made the instructors son cry the week before at practice. Instructor James Rodriguez's exact words to this situation were ""We did that to show him what goes around comes around."" The bigger, more skilled boy was told to throw our son around and show him who's boss. He did just that and our son was hurt as a result of being tossed over the boys shoulder and slammed into the ground. They basically have shown form of nepotism toward the instructors son by humiliating my son. Coach Kurtis pulled my son aside in the corner and whispered to him that he ""don't care if your parents are here or not, you're going to learn a lesson today."" Basically belittling my sons self esteem which is something the pride themselves as a gym on teaching the children. After my husband and I approached the instructors about the whole situation after the class, we were told there's not much that can be done. We left upset and disgusted over the whole situation. We have since requested our contract be voided; also we have contacted an attorney regarding our sons rights about this. In conclusion, we do NOT recommend sending your children to this facility to be taught. There are other gyms that are much better suited to assist you in your needs.
