Review content:
I have life long experience with martial arts, starting as a kid, going into the military, and as a policeman. For my kids, who are 5th & 6th grade, and who didn't get excited about team sports, this place has been wonderful! We tried the 2 free lessons offer. Mr Taylor, the chief instruction in Lynnwood, was very good with both my boy and my girl. \r
\r
Mr. Taylor has a very upbeat and positive attitude with the kids group, who range from 6 to 17. He's a master at handling them, directing them, and leading them into learning. It seems the physical conditioning and martial arts is just the very fun teaching tool for him - he does as much character development and behavior instruction as he does physical training.\r
\r
A few weeks after the kids started, I decided to take instruction too. It's not easy; in fact it must be meant to be challenging - but it's not over the top. I don't have to do full contact (like when I was a kid) nor do I have to do anything painful (as in the military). It's just about pushing myself hard to gain real progress. \r
\r
I can see the effect of Mr. Taylor's teaching attitude in my adult student collegues - folks who are more advanced in the training than I am are always willing to help, correct me so that I'm doing a motion correctly and safely, and very positive. \r
\r
I'm very happy with the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts, and particularly with Mr Taylor, the chief instructor at the Lynnwood location. If you are looking for a fun way to work out, friendly people, an interesting body conditioning routine, or a great way to get your kids active, you should check it out!
Pros: friendly, positive teaching style
