Review content:
We have tried every sushi place in the general vicinity, including Mandarin Reading, Emporer's Choice in Reading, Sushi Island in Wakefield, and Blue Fin in Middleton.
U-Me is hands-down, the best sushi we have eaten in a long, long time. We started with some steamed shumi. They were much larger than most Japanese restaurants and were overflowing with shrimp, which was moist and sweet. The dipping sauce had just the right ""bite"" to it.
We tried several of the house-special varieties of maki (rolls), which are individually plated and brought out one at a time instead of dumping all of them on the same plate and bringing it to the table. I have always found that to be a bit overwhelming, especially when friends order different things and they all seem to be mixed together when served. The presentation was beautiful. They have some very interesting combinations, including a lobster maki with roasted red peppers that is just insanely good!!
I stated that the prices are a little high, but honestly, they're not that bad considering both the quality and the quantity of food. It might be more than you're willing to spend, but you won't be sorry!
The wait-staff was attentive, but not intrusively so. Everything was brought to our table in a timely manner and the server had a smile each time.
Do not hesitate to give them a try!
Pros: Raw foods are VERY fresh. Cooked foods are very moist.
Cons: Prices are a little high
