I cannot believe I just blew $120 with tax & tip for the worst meal of my life. At first when we went in, it was amazingly upscale, given the location. Cummlng is infamous for never having nice restaurants. They brought us little 'cooks sampler' plates, single bite tuna, and if you like the texture of raw tuna, I'm sure they were great, but we didn't really like them. They brought us bread and sweet whipped butter which was nice, and the waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. Before long we realized that the whole room was FREEZING, and that there was absolutely ZERO privacy. It was, in fact, so cold that when we looked around at the few other guests who had walked in after us, we realized that everyone was wearing their jackets inside the restaurant! In regards to the privacy issue, all the tables are in one big area, with some half boothes along the walls. There is no attempt to give any table in the whole place any sort of privacy. For $30/plate, i'd think i wouldn't have had to hear the booming voice of the obnoxious guy in the hawaiian shirt next to us. I try to forgive all these things, because after all, they have duck and filet mignon, and these are our favourite things. The food comes out: I had ordered the duck, my husband had ordered the fish, and our friend had ordered the 9oz filet. We are all amazed to discover that, despite being plated beautifully, all of our meals are so extremely overcooked that we're having to fight the food to eat it! I understand that it's really easy to overcook duck, but the cook should not serve it if he cannot cook it right. This wasn't a matter of flavor combinations or a bad experience, it really was just a matter of a horribly inept chef. Even the filet was overdone, and the fish was okay, but was on a bed of slimy tomatoes. (when was the last time you said, Mmmm grilled fish, let's eat it with chunky katchup!). This just goes to prove that yet again, Cummlng is incapable fo having nice restaurants. PLEASE I BEG OF YOU not to waste your time on this place. We eat out *A LOT* at a varying range of places. For the same price, I could have gone to Cabernet and been a thousand times more content. Pros: ambience, waitstaff, music Cons: food, room temperature, price
